A Virginia man charged with raping a woman with mental disabilities, resulting in the birth of a child, may have at least one other victim, police say.
“She is a vulnerable adult, she is incapable of giving consent,” Fairfax County police Capt. Thea Pirnat toldFOX5DC.
DNA allegedly confirmed Betts-King’s connection to the child after the woman gave birth, police said in a news release.
Betts-King was arrested Monday and charged with raping the womanthrough the use of her mental incapacity, authorities confirmed.

Detectives now believe they may have identified a second alleged victim of the suspect.
“We are actually working a second case right now that we have learned there are commonalities,” Pirnat told FOX5DC. “We believe it’s going to be linked to him and we are doing DNA processing in that particular case.”
“Same facility, same circumstances,” she said. “She is a vulnerable adult. She is not able to give consent due to some cognitive impairment issues, and that’s what our concern is.”
Betts-King currently is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Detention Center, PEOPLE confirms. It could not be determined if he has obtained an attorney who might speak on his behalf.
At the time of his arrest, police say Betts-King also worked at a second facility, Community Living Alternatives.
Susan Keenan, executive director for Community Living Alternatives, issued her own statement, reports FOX5DC.
“As a safe haven for individuals with intellectual disabilities, there is nothing more important to Community Living Alternatives than ensuring our residents are safe, secure and treated with the respect every person deserves,” she said. “While the crimes alleged against the individual charged were not committed at our facility, we are proactively reviewing our safety procedures and have reached out to law enforcement to assist in their investigation.”
Police ask that anyone with information on possible additional victims call them at 703-246-7800.
