Seth RogenandCatherine O’Harakicked off awards season with a sneak peek at their upcoming show,The Studio.
“Who are all these people? I don’t recognize any of them,” Matt asks the former Continental Studios executive. She quips back, stating they’re influencers. “Most of them don’t even go inside. They just make their red carpet TikToks and leave,” she explains, before making her a quirky pose for a flashing camera.
Dissatisfied, he replies, “What the f— is happening to this town? I remember when the red carpet for the Golden Globes actually stood for something.”
“Yeah but if you don’t get these phone-toting fetuses to focus on something longer than 15 seconds all of this is going the way DEI departments,” she retorts. As the clip comes to a close and before the show’s title card appears, Matt is heard saying, “Oh, that would be a shame.”
The upcoming series will follow Rogen’s character and “his core team of infighting executives battle their own insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films,” per the synopsis. “As someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes movies, it’s the job Matt’s been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him."
