In early January,two sisters went missing in Scotland, and their bodies were discovered weeks later. Now, their cause of death has been revealed.
The documents both listed drowning as the single cause of death, confirming the siblings were found near South Esplanade in West Aberdeen.
The news comes almost a month after both of theirbodies were discoveredin the River Dee on Jan. 31, more than three weeks after they disappeared on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The sisters, who hail from Hungary, were last seen in the early hours of Jan. 7, after leaving their apartment in Aberdeen, a port city of just over 220,000 people in northeast Scotland.

Information about Henrietta’sunsettling last messagesurfaced two weeks after the women disappeared. In the hours and days after the siblings went missing, local police initiated a highly publicized search.
Finally, on Friday, Jan. 31, at around 7:55 a.m. local time, the body of one of the sisters wasdiscovered in the River Dee.

Later that same day, the police department announced that they’d discovered the remains of the second sister, Eliza Huszti.

According to astatementfrom Police Scotland, officers discovered the body in the River Dee near the Victoria Bridge around 9:00 p.m. local time. Although the woman had not been officially identified, police wrote that “the family of Eliza Huszti… who had been reported missing in the area on Tuesday, [Jan. 7], has been informed.”
“Our thoughts remain with the Huszti family and we are keeping them fully updated following these recoveries,” Police Superintendent David Howieson added in the statement. Police also noted that officers were still investigating, but “there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
