Charli xcxdidn’t follow this advice ahead of herSaturday Night Livehosting debut.
In an interview withVarietypublished on Wednesday, Dec. 4, the “Club Classics” singer shared the advice she got fromAriana Grande, who hosted the sketch show in October.
“She’d obviously just done [SNL] and killed it, so I was getting tips," Charli, 32, told the publication about her Nov. 16 episode. “She was just like, ‘You’re gonna be amazing, just relax, it’s so fun.' "
“But outside of her advice about contact lenses — which I ended up not going with on the night — I really heeded [Lorne Michaels’] advice,” she continued, “which was just to trust the process, go with the flow and not try and overly control things that would automatically get figured out along the way.”

Elsewhere in theVarietyinterview, Charli spoke about a pivot to acting, as she’s set to appear in several upcoming films and an Amazon comedy series calledOvercompensating.
“Everything’s been relatively small, and I’m enjoying learning about being on a set and learning from great directors and actors,” she said.
“I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it,” Charli added. “So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”
