Do you believe in life after a love of ice cream? What about opening a business?

Inthis week’s issue,Chertells PEOPLE about the origin story behind her ice cream company,Cherlato.

“There are pictures of me all over the world eating ice cream because ice cream, I think, is my favorite dessert,” says the legendary entertainer before reevaluating with more certainty. “Am I kidding myself? It is my favorite dessert!”

The singer went on to detail a few particularly delicious moments around the globe with the beloved frozen treat.

She tells PEOPLE that she was filming a movie in Rome when she asked her driver, “Take me to the best ice cream place in Rome.”

“He did. It was brilliant,” she says before admitting, “I ended up eating the family size.”

Cher then detailed a trip to New Zealand in 2018 when she first got a taste of her business partner Giapo Grazioli’s frozen creations.

The “If I Could Turn Back Time” singer tells PEOPLE that her assistant had brought her some ice cream that warranted immediate action.

“What the F is this? Where did you get this?” Cher recalls asking her assistant upon tasting the ice cream. “She said, ‘At this place,’ and I told her, ‘We have to go there. We have to go there right away.’”

“It was the best ice cream I had ever tasted in my life,” she continues, explaining that she had tried one of Grazioli’s original recipes athis New Zealand shop.

“I said, ‘You know what? Someday, we’re going to have an ice cream company together,’” Cher told her now-business partner. “Five years later, we have Cherlato.”

The colorful truck officially started touring around Los Angeles in August, where it changed locations regularly through the summer months. The truck’s location can currently be tracked onthe Cherlato website.

Flavors including the “Snap Out of It! Kefir and Cardamom,” “Breakfast at Cher’s Coffee & Donuts" (that gets topped with an actual glazed donut) and “Chocolate XO Cher” were just the start of the singer’s inventive gelato menu.

Cher and Grazioli also came up with a zanier option like “SoCal’s Coldest Avocado on Toast,” which features creamy avocados and crunchy bread crumbs, plus a vegan creation called “LA, I Love You” made with vibrantly colored pluots to symbolize the Lakers' colors.

Fans also have the option to get the ice cream in an edible gold cone for an extra luxe experience.
