The treats customers love (and some that have been discontinued) can now be prepared in the comfort of your own home.
On Monday, the popular fast food chain announced a free digital cookbook for a good cause. The project, titledExtra Helpings: Inspiring Stories and Imaginative Recipes from Chick-fil-A Shared Table, is aimed at raising awareness about food insecurity and teaching consumers how to reduce food waste.

In the book, readers will find 26 recipes that are meant to be easy to follow.
Included will be dishes such as breakfast casseroles, chicken enchiladas and apple cobbler, and recipes are geared toward using extra food items that are typically found in home kitchens.
As an added bonus to raise awareness,Chick-fil-Apromises to donate $1 million collectively this month to Feeding America, Second Harvest in Canada and seven Chick-fil-A Shared Table nonprofit partners working to address food insecurity and hunger.
Other items found in the cookbook are classics that are no longer at physical locations, like coleslaw and chicken salad.

In addition to recipes, readers will also find heartwarming stories from Chick-fil-A Shared Table nonprofit partners who have spent time caring for individuals in need.
The cookbook is divided into four sections: Breakfast, entrées, sides and shareables, and desserts.
Items found on the breakfast menu include a fruit smoothie made using Chick-fil-A’s Greek yogurt, a waffle potato fry frittata, and a spicy queso and eggs. Nugget fried rice is among the 12 savory dishes available under entrées.
“Our goal forExtra Helpingsis not only to inspire individuals to reimagine their extra food into new, delicious recipes, but also spark conversations about the important issues of food insecurity and food waste,” Brent Fielder, senior director of corporate social responsibility for Chick-fil-A, said in a press release.
“Participating local Chick-fil-A Owner-Operators across the U.S. and Canada care for their neighbors and communities through Chick-fil-A Shared Table food donations, collectively donating over 23 million meals in the past 11 years,” he continued. “While we’re pleased with this milestone, we know there is more work to be done, which is why we’re spotlighting this important issue.”
Chick-fil-A’s website adds that, according toReFED, an estimated 160 billion pounds of food is wasted each year in the United States alone.

Marshall Wilkins, a local Chick-fil-A owner-operator in Knoxville, Tennessee, who helped create the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program in 2012 opened up aboutthe initiative.
“Chick-fil-A Shared Table empowers local restaurant owner-operators to be a good neighbor within their communities,” he said.
“TheExtra Helpingscookbook is more than just an opportunity to share recipes — it’s a tool to help inspire meaningful change and honor nonprofit partners that areworking to make a significant impact in their communities. Together, we can address the root causes of both hunger and food waste,” Wilkins added.
