The emotional clip shows Dereniowski approaching members of the public and asking them if they’d like to buy a mystery cookbook for $1 at Silboration, Magnolia’s annual homecoming event in Chip and Joanna’s hometown of Waco, Texas.
After two people turn the offer down, a man named Mark purchases the cookbook, which isvolume 3 of Joanna’s recipe bookMagnolia Table.
Mark goes on to share that he and his wife are fans of Joanna, 45, and if she were in front of him, “I’d tell her she’s like part of the family. We watch her all weekend. We’re from Hawaii.”
Dereniowski then asks Mark what his dream is, to which he replies, “We wanted to meet them.”
As he hands over $1 for the cookbook, Mark is informed about the “mystery” part of the “mystery cookbook.”
“The first person who was going to buy the mystery cookbook for $1 buck, I had $1000 cash,” Dereniowski tells him as hands over bills.

“You’re amazing, you deserve it,” adds Dereniowski, who tells a teary Mark that he has one more surprise for him and he is going to meet Chip and Joanna, 45, that evening.
The video then cuts to Mark walking out on to stage at Silobration to meet the couple, where he is presented with a huge check.

“We were wondering if something like $10,000 would possibly change your life?” says Chip, before he crosses out the $10,000 on the check and changes it to $25,000 as Mark’s wife looks on in disbelief.
“$25,000 is truly life-changing,” says Mark as clips of him hugging Chip and Joanna play. “I love you both so much. I’ll do my best to pay it forward.”
“I love seeing nice things happening to good people,” wrote one follower, while a second added, “How his face lit up talking about Jo and Chip! 🥺❤️❤️.”
