Chris Evansisn’t afraid to get a little emotional.
The actor, 37, appeared onGood Morning Americaalongside his original Avengers costars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner Monday morning to previewAvengers: Endgame. Evans opened up about his emotional last day on set for the movie, which could be his last time suiting up as Captain America.
“It is the end of a 22, 21 movie tapestry, a 10-year process,” Evans explained. “This has been an enormous part of my life, it’ll follow me till the day I die. And when you think about it, it’s easy to get emotional about it. You try to prepare yourself for the completion and the day came and it was more than I thought it was gonna be. I was really, really beside myself. It just, it got me. I’m an emotional guy.”
“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful,” Evans wrote.

The fourth Avengers movie features the original crew, plus Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, as they try to reverse the course of last year’s Avengers: Infinity war, where bad guy Thanos vanished half the world’s population with a single snap. The “snappening,” as fans have dubbed it, included a few surperheroes, includingChris Pratt‘s Star-Lord, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
